A cake smash isn't always a happy experience for everyone. It's a lot of pressure for a little one to be cute and eat cake at the same time! And poor parents work really hard to get the smiles just incase the tears come. Addy felt all the emotions but she did so good and we got some really adorable images. Happy first birthday Addy!

Baby number 2 is on the way and big brother is very excited! This was a very cute, relaxed studio session and we finished it off with mom getting dressed up in one of the maternity dresses we have on hand. The last pregnancy deserves some special photos!

It's funny how when I first started this photography journey, I refused to photograph babies. Give all the couples and weddings instead. Now, it's the complete opposite. I think I love photographing babies and little kids so much because you truly get what you get. The silly moments that might not seem like the "perfect family portrait" are actually the best ones. Annika came into the studio for some headshots. She brought a variety of outfits and did so amazing!!

We could not have asked for a more perfect morning for this photo session. It was cloudy, but the sun was trying to break through, and it was snowing so lightly. This was my first time meeting Baylee and Mike, but we do have mutual friends. I see why they are loved so much. And Link! What a good boy he is and I loved some of the expressions he gave us. Congratulations on your growing family! I can't wait to meet you little one soon!

First you take some adorable photos with your penguins, then you have some spaghetti and then you have a dance party! Happy Happy Birthday to these two cuties!!

What I love about these birthday sessions is that it isn't about the perfect portrait, it's about capturing kids as they are, with what they love. Those are the memories we want captured as parents. Plus for little ones who may not have the attention span to sit for photos, let them dance and twirl and have some fun! AJ loves her princess dresses, so why not dress up and have some fun in front of the camera??

She started off not being too sure about what was happening, but once that cake came out she got right into it and smashed it! Both the cake and the pictures! Big shout out to mom and dad too for working so hard behind the scenes to help create the smiles. Lots of singing and dancing. I am sure everyone deserved a nap aftewards!

Sometimes we are a little unsure about the cake but that doesn't make the photos any less adorable! Dad was working hard behind the scenes to get a couple smiles and we opted for a family photo which turned into big bro enjoying some sugar and feeling the effects! Love this family so much and it has been such an honour to photograph their wedding, and now both of their baby's first birthdays.
